Okay, so I’ve been feeling a little lost about my career lately. Like, I’m doing okay, but is this really it? I decided to try something a little different – a career path tarot spread. I found a few examples online, but nothing really clicked, so I kinda mashed them together and made my own. Here’s how it went down:
First, I grabbed my trusty tarot deck. I’ve had this one for years, and it always seems to give me pretty straight answers, even if I don’t always like them. I shuffled the cards, really focusing on my career questions. What am I good at? Where am I heading? What’s blocking me?
My Makeshift Spread
I laid out the cards in this order:
- Card 1: My Current Situation. Just a snapshot of where I’m at right now in my career.
- Card 2: My Strengths. What am I naturally good at? What skills do I have that can help me?
- Card 3: My Weaknesses. What’s holding me back? What do I need to work on?
- Card 4: My Aspirations. What do I really want to be doing? My dream job, kind of.
- Card 5: External Influences. What outside factors are impacting my career?
- Card 6: Hidden Obstacles. things that are blocking in subconsicous level.
- Card 7: Actionable Advice. What concrete steps can I take to move forward?
The Reading
I flipped the cards one by one. It was…interesting. Some cards were super obvious, like the Strengths card being all about creativity and communication (which is totally my jam). Others were a bit more cryptic. The “Aspirations” card showed a figure reaching for the stars, which, yeah, I guess I am aiming high, but it didn’t give me any specifics.
The “Weaknesses” card was a bit of a gut punch. It showed a figure trapped in indecision, which…ouch. Too real. I definitely struggle with making big decisions, especially when it comes to my career.
The “External Influences” card was also pretty spot-on. It highlighted the importance of networking and collaboration, which is something I know I need to do more of, but I always find excuses not to.
The “Actionable Advice” card was probably the most helpful. It suggested I focus on building practical skills and seek out mentorship. That’s something I can actually do. No more vague “follow your dreams” stuff – this was concrete.
The Result
After the reading, I spent some time journaling about the cards and what they might mean for me. It wasn’t like a magical solution appeared, but it definitely gave me some clarity and some things to think about. I feel like I have a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses, and I have some actual steps I can take to move forward. I’m going to start looking for online courses to boost my skills, and I’m going to force myself to go to at least one networking event this month. Baby steps, right?
Overall, it was a pretty cool experiment. I wouldn’t say it’s a replacement for, like, a career counselor, but it’s a good way to tap into your intuition and get some fresh perspective. Might even try it again in a few months to see if anything’s changed!
