Okay, so I’ve been getting into tarot lately, and I stumbled upon this deck called the Medicine Woman Tarot. I was instantly drawn to the imagery and the whole vibe, so I decided to give it a shot. I’m a total beginner, so this is my experience from that perspective.
First, I got the deck. It was a little hard to find, but I wanted to make sure I got the right one. I ordered mine online from some shop.
When it arrived, I was so excited! I carefully opened the box and took out the cards. The artwork is amazing, it’s all these powerful women and nature scenes, very earthy and spiritual. I also noticed the cards are a bit bigger than regular playing cards, which I liked.
Getting to Know the Cards
Next, I spent some time just looking at each card. I didn’t even try to read them yet, I just wanted to get a feel for the images and the energy. The little guidebook that came with it was pretty helpful, it gave a brief description of each card’s meaning.
- I spread them out on my table.
- I picked them up one by one.
- I just looked at the pictures, letting them kind of sink in.
My First Reading
After a few days of just getting familiar with the cards, I decided to try a simple three-card reading. I followed a suggestion in the guidebook for a past-present-future spread. I shuffled the deck, really trying to focus my mind on a question I had, and then I laid out three cards.
Honestly, it was a little confusing at first. I had to keep referring back to the guidebook to understand what each card might mean in each position. But, as I read the descriptions and thought about my question, some things started to click. It was like the cards were giving me a new way to look at my situation.
Still Learning
I’m definitely still learning! It’s not like I instantly became a tarot expert. But it’s been a really cool experience so far. The Medicine Woman Tarot feels very intuitive and grounding. I’m planning to keep practicing, maybe try some different spreads, and just keep exploring what the cards have to teach me. I’m finding it a good way to think about things in my life, a bit like a visual journal in some way.
