Alright, let’s talk about this Cosmic Slumber Tarot thing, you know? It’s a bunch of cards, real pretty pictures on ’em. Folks say they can tell you stuff, about your life and all that.

Now, I ain’t no fancy city person, but I can see pretty when I see it. These cards, they got stars and moons, all dreamy-like. Someone told me a fella named Sterling Ethos, he made sure it was all spacey and whatnot. And a lady, Tillie Walden, she drew the pictures. Sounds like a lot of work, makin’ 80 of them little pictures.
They call it a “deck,” this stack of cards. And they got big cards, special ones, they call ’em the “Major Arcana.” One of ’em is the High Priestess. Sounds important, like someone you gotta listen to. Then there’s this other one, the Hanged Man. Don’t sound too good, that one, hangin’ and all. But folks say it ain’t always bad, just means you gotta look at things a different way.
Then you got these other cards, smaller ones. Like this Two of Cups. Now, that one sounds alright. Means you’re gettin’ along with folks, maybe even findin’ love. Love’s nice. Like when you find a good ripe tomato in the garden, makes you feel all warm inside.
- Stars and Moons: Lots of ’em on these cards, real dreamy-like.
- Big Pictures: Those are the Major Arcana, important stuff.
- Little Pictures: They tell you about everyday things, like work and love.
- Eighty Cards: That’s a whole lot of pictures, enough to tell you a whole heap of stories.
Now, some folks, they get all serious about these cards. They say it’s, uh, “spiritual awakenin’” or some such. Me? I just think they’re pretty. Like lookin’ at the clouds, sometimes you see things in ’em, you know? A dog, a tree, maybe even your Aunt Millie’s face.
This fella, he said somethin’ about “performance art.” Big words, I tell ya. But I get it. It’s like tellin’ a story. The cards, they just help you tell the story, add a little somethin’ extra. Like puttin’ on your Sunday best for church, even though you’re still the same person inside.

This “Cosmic Slumber Tarot,” it’s supposed to be different, they say. A “fresh perspective.” I guess that means it ain’t like those old cards your grandma used to have. The ones with the swords and the pentacles. These ones, they’re all…cosmic, like I said. Makes you think about the big things, you know? Like why the sky is blue and where the stars go in the daytime.
So, are these cards magic? Can they tell the future? I dunno. Maybe. Maybe not. But I reckon lookin’ at pretty pictures and thinkin’ about your life ain’t such a bad thing. Might even help you figure some stuff out. Or, at the very least, it’ll give you somethin’ nice to look at. Like a pretty flower on a hot summer day. Just enjoy the moment, I always say.
And that’s all I gotta say about this Cosmic Slumber Tarot. Pretty cards, nice stories. Ain’t gonna hurt nobody, that’s for sure. Maybe it’ll help ya, maybe it won’t. But a little bit of pretty never hurt nobody.
