Grand Etteilla Tarot Spreads: Simple Layouts for Accurate Readings

Okay, so I got into this whole Grand Etteilla Tarot thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride! I started just messing around with some tarot spreads, you know, the basic stuff. I found these free guides online, which were pretty helpful for a newbie like me. They said they’re good for both beginners and experienced readers, so I figured, why not?

I dug into the Major Arcana cards first. I mean, those are the big ones, right? The heavy hitters. I found some info online about their meanings, so I felt a little less lost. The guides were like, “Look at the card in the position, AND where it landed,” which, honestly, was a bit confusing at first. But, I kept at it.

  • Started pulling cards, just one at a time.
  • Tried to make sense of what I was pulling.
  • Wrote down every single card and where it was.

Then I stumbled upon this Lenormand thing. There was this video course thing, about an hour and 47 minutes long I think, and it talked about this Madame Lenormand and her oracle deck. There was also a 3 minute or so video about the deck. Apparently, it’s like a cousin of Tarot, but different. Who knew?

I felt like I was getting a grip, but it was still kind of a mess. Cards everywhere, notes scribbled all over the place, my brain fried… you get the picture.

My First Real Grand Etteilla Spread

So, I finally worked up the nerve to try a full-blown Grand Etteilla spread. It’s massive! We’re talking about using almost the entire deck. I cleared a big space on the floor, laid down a cloth (gotta set the mood, right?), and just went for it.

I shuffle the cards, I cut the deck, and I deal them out in this giant pattern. The pattern in the book looks so neat, but mine was pretty chaotic. But hey, it’s a learning process, right?

I spent hours poring over the cards, trying to piece together the story they were telling me. Some of it made sense, some of it was totally out there. But you know what? It was kind of exciting! Like solving a really complicated puzzle.

I wrote down everything, even my crazy interpretations. I figured, even if I’m way off base, it’s good to keep track of my progress.

I’m still not an expert, not even close. But I’m getting there. I’m slowly starting to see the connections between the cards, the patterns in the spread. It’s still a bit overwhelming, but it’s also pretty cool. I did some smaller readings after that, but that first big one was really something else.

Anyway, that’s my story so far. I’m still learning, still practicing, still trying to figure this whole Grand Etteilla thing out. It’s been a journey, for sure, but a fun one. Maybe I’ll share more later as I get better at it. Who knows, maybe I’ll even become a pro someday! But for now, I’m just enjoying the ride.
