HomeTarothow to get rid of tarot cards

how to get rid of tarot cards

Okay, so I’ve had this deck of tarot cards for a while. I got into it for a bit, but honestly, it’s just not my thing anymore. They’ve been sitting in a drawer, gathering dust. I felt a bit weird about just throwing them in the trash, you know? So, I did a little digging and tried a few things. Here’s what I did:

First Thought: Just Toss ‘Em?

My first thought was, seriously, can I just throw these away? It felt disrespectful, somehow. Like tossing out a book, you know? But I wasn’t using them, and they weren’t exactly antique or anything.

Tried Giving Them Away

  • Friends? Nope. Asked around my friends, but nobody was interested. Most of them were like, “Tarot? Uh, no thanks.”
  • Online? Meh. I even thought about listing them online, like on a local “buy nothing” group. But honestly, it felt like more effort than it was worth.

The “Respectful” Disposal Methods

So, I looked up some of the, shall we say, gentler ways to get rid of tarot cards. Here’s what I experimented with:

  • Burying Them: I live in an apartment complex, So there’s not any private land that I can use.
  • Returning them to Nature: So I chose a small river near my home to throw them into the water.

It was kind of a nice moment, actually. I just thanked the cards for whatever they represented, and let them go.

Wrapping It Up

It felt good. Weird, maybe, but good. Like I’d done the right thing, even if it was a little unconventional. I think the main thing was that I didn’t want to just chuck them in the garbage like an old magazine. Giving them back to the water felt… right.

So, yeah, that’s how I got rid of my tarot cards. If you’re in the same boat, maybe give the water thing a try. Or find a friend who’s way more into this stuff than you are!
