Okay, so I’ve been meaning to dive deeper into the Thoth Tarot deck for a while now. I finally got my hands on a copy of the guidebook and decided, “Today’s the day!”
Getting Started
First things first, I cleared my space. You know, made sure it was tidy and felt good. I lit a little incense – sandalwood, my favorite – and put on some chill background music. Nothing with lyrics, just some ambient stuff. Then, I grabbed my deck and the guidebook.
First Impressions
I opened the guidebook and, honestly, it’s pretty dense. Lots of text! But I wasn’t intimidated. I started by skimming through the introduction. It talks about Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris, the creators of the deck, and their whole philosophy. It’s a bit… out there… but interesting.
Diving into the Cards
Then, I decided to focus on just a few cards. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself. I picked three cards at random from the deck and then looked them up in the guidebook.

- I tried to take time to make notes.
Making Notes
This is where my trusty notebook came in. For each card, I jotted down some key words and phrases that resonated with me. I didn’t copy everything word-for-word, just the stuff that really stood out. It felt good putting my thoughts down.

After going through the three cards, I spent some time just looking at them, comparing the imagery and the descriptions in the book. I tried to connect the meanings to my own life, you know, see if anything clicked. It’s kind of like a puzzle, trying to piece together the bigger picture.
Wrapping Up
I didn’t try to memorize everything. My goal for today was just to get a feel for the guidebook and how to use it. I think I accomplished that! I’m actually pretty excited to keep exploring the Thoth deck. It feels like there’s a lot to uncover, and I’m ready for the journey.
