Learn the basics of tarot easily with a three card tarot reading at our welcoming new age store.

Okay, so I wanted to share something I did the other week. I’d been feeling a bit stuck, you know? Just spinning my wheels. I was walking downtown, just trying to clear my head, and I passed by that little shop, the one with all the crystals and wind chimes in the window? The sign said something about “New Age” stuff. Never really been into that, but I dunno, felt drawn to it that day.

So, I pushed the door open. Little bell jingled. It smelled strongly of incense, sandalwood maybe? It was quiet inside, kinda calming actually. Lots of books, rocks, weird looking statues. I just wandered around for a bit, looking at things. Picked up a smooth, dark stone, felt cool in my hand. Put it back down.

Then I saw a small sign tucked away near the back counter: “Three Card Tarot Readings – Walk-ins Welcome”. I hesitated. Felt a bit silly, honestly. Like, what am I doing? But that ‘stuck’ feeling was still nagging me. I thought, what the heck, worst case it’s a waste of twenty bucks and ten minutes.

Getting the Reading

I went up to the counter. The lady there had kind eyes, silver hair tied back. I asked about the reading. She smiled and gestured to a small table in the corner with two chairs. It had a purple cloth on it and a deck of cards.

She had me sit down. Didn’t ask me much, just told me to take a few deep breaths and try to think about my current situation, or maybe a question I had, but keep it kinda general. She shuffled the cards. They made a nice soft sound. Then she fanned them out face down on the table.

  • First Card (Past): She told me to pick one card for the past influence. I just pointed at one near the middle.
  • Second Card (Present): Then pick one for the present situation. I picked another.
  • Third Card (Outcome/Advice): Finally, one for the likely outcome or advice moving forward. I chose the last one.

What Came Up

She turned them over one by one. Didn’t recognize the pictures, lots of symbols and stuff. She looked at them for a moment, quiet.

Then she started talking. Kept it simple, which I appreciated. Talked about the first card maybe showing a time of difficulty I’d left behind, but maybe its shadow still lingered. The second card, the present one, she said it looked like I was weighing options, maybe feeling indecisive – which hit kinda close to home, that ‘stuck’ feeling I mentioned. The third card, she said, wasn’t about a definite future, but more like advice. It suggested needing to make a choice, take a small step, even if I wasn’t totally sure. Action over inaction, basically.

She didn’t make wild predictions or anything spooky. It felt more like… a conversation guided by the pictures on the cards. Like she was just pointing out possibilities based on the symbols.

Paid the twenty bucks, thanked her, and walked out. Did it magically solve my problems? Nah. But walking back out into the sunshine, I did feel a little lighter. It was like having someone else look at the situation from a weird angle gave me a tiny nudge. Just confirmation that yeah, I probably do need to just do something, anything, to get unstuck. It was an interesting little experience, stepping outside my usual routine for a bit.
