Well now, let’s talk about this number 28 in the Bible, what they call “biblical numerology.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just about what numbers mean in them old stories. Folks say 28 ain’t just any number, it’s got some special meanin’, somethin’ to do with things bein’ complete and all fixed up proper, like a good harvest or a finished quilt.

Some say it’s about “divine order,” which I reckon means God’s way of doin’ things. Like He’s got it all planned out, you know? Nothin’s just happenin’ by chance. It’s like plantin’ seeds; ya gotta do it right, at the right time, or nothin’ll grow. God’s the same way, I guess, got His own time and way for everythin’.
Then there’s this talk about 28 bein’ about “witness” and “partnership.” Now, witnessin’ is important, ain’t it? Like seein’ somethin’ with your own eyes and tellin’ the truth about it. And partnership, well, that’s just folks workin’ together, helpin’ each other out. Like when we used to have barn raisings, everybody comin’ together to get ‘er done. That’s what I think of when I hear “partnership.”
Some folks who study these things say 28 is about unity, bein’ all together, and completeness, like a puzzle all put together. And “spiritual maturity,” that’s like growin’ up in your faith, not just believin’ but understandin’ too, like a good strong oak tree, rooted deep and reachin’ for the sky.
- Now, I heard tell that 28 armed fellas, Pharisees they was, walked with Jesus when He was carryin’ that cross. That’s a lot of fellas, must’ve been quite a sight.
- And they say the name “David” is in 28 different books of the Bible. That David must’ve been some important fella.
- And this here “Lamb,” that’s what they call Jesus sometimes, that word shows up 28 times. And “Hallelujah,” that’s a praise word, that’s in there 28 times too. Makes you think, don’t it?
This number 28, it’s also about balancin’ things, like keepin’ your chickens safe from the fox but still lettin’ ’em roam. And harmony, that’s like when the choir sings just right, all the voices blendin’ together beautiful. Servin’ others, that’s just bein’ a good neighbor, helpin’ out when someone needs it. And empathy, that’s understandin’ how someone else feels, puttin’ yourself in their shoes, even if them shoes are worn out and full of holes.
They also say 28 is about adaptin’, changin’ with the weather, you know? And findin’ your purpose, what you’re meant to do in this life, like bakin’ the best apple pie in the county. And manifestin’ wealth, well, that’s just prayin’ for a good harvest and workin’ hard to get it. And prosperity, that’s havin’ enough, not just for yourself but to share too. And abundance, that’s like havin’ so many tomatoes you gotta give some away to your neighbors.

Solvin’ problems, that’s just figurin’ out how to fix a leaky roof or get a stubborn mule to move. Achieving success, that’s like finally gettin’ that blue ribbon at the county fair for your prize-winning pumpkin. Knowledge and inner wisdom, that’s learnin’ from your mistakes and gettin’ wiser as you get older, like knowin’ when to plant and when to harvest.
And then there’s this “Universal Spiritual Law of Karma,” sounds mighty complicated, but I reckon it just means what goes around comes around. You do good, good things happen to you. You do bad, well, you get the picture. Partnerships, that’s workin’ together again, like a team of oxen pullin’ a plow. Authority, that’s like the sheriff keepin’ the peace. Finances, that’s just makin’ sure you got enough money to pay your bills and buy some sugar for your tea. And leadership, that’s like the old rooster leadin’ the hens around the yard.
I even heard tell about somethin’ in the Bible about offerin’ up two lambs on the Sabbath, along with some flour and oil. Sounds like a good feast, don’t it? Maybe that’s got somethin’ to do with 28 too, two lambs, and maybe somethin’ else addin’ up. The Bible’s full of these things, numbers and stories, all meanin’ somethin’ if you just take the time to think about ‘em.
So, that’s what I make of this number 28 in the Bible. It ain’t just a number, it’s a reminder of all sorts of things, from bein’ good and honest to workin’ together and trustin’ in God’s plan. Just like plantin’ a seed and watchin’ it grow, you gotta have faith and patience, and in the end, you’ll reap what you sow.
