Poverty Tarot Card Meaning: Simple Explanation & Key Interpretations!

Okay, so today I decided to mess around with tarot cards, specifically focusing on the “Poverty” card. I’ve always been a little curious about tarot, but never really did anything with it. Figured, why not start now?

Getting Started

First, I needed some cards. I didn’t have a physical deck, so I just went online and found a decent-looking virtual tarot *’s good enough to show pictures of all cards.

Then, I needed to, you know, actually find the Poverty card. Most decks I’ve seen rename it, usually to something like “The Five of Pentacles” or “The Five of Coins”. So that’s what I looked for. Found it pretty easily.

My ‘Reading’ (aka Experimenting)

I didn’t do a full-blown tarot spread or anything fancy. I just wanted to focus on this one card and see what it’s supposed to mean. I mean it’s called ‘poverty’,so most of its meanings are somehow related to this word.

  • The Image: Usually, it shows a couple of people outside, looking all cold and miserable, often in front of a church window. Kind of depressing, honestly.
  • Traditional Meanings: Stuff like financial hardship, insecurity, feeling left out, illness… you get the picture. It’s not exactly a happy card.
  • My Take: I tried to think about it in a more, uh, modern way. Like, it’s not just about being broke. It could be feeling “poor” in other ways – lacking support, feeling isolated, or maybe even just having a really crappy day where everything goes wrong.

Playing Around with It

I spent some time just staring at the card, thinking about all the different ways this “poverty” feeling can show up. Then I did a little journaling, writing down some personal experiences where I felt like I was in a “Five of Pentacles” kind of situation. It wasn’t always about money. Sometimes it was about feeling lonely, or like I was failing at something, or just plain exhausted.

My Conclusion (For Now)

It was actually a pretty interesting experiment. I don’t know if I believe in the whole tarot thing, but it definitely got me thinking about things from a different perspective. It’s kind of like a weird, visual prompt for self-reflection. I might try messing around with some other cards later, just to see what comes up. Who knows, maybe I’ll discover I’m secretly a tarot master. Doubtful, but it’s fun to play around!
