Seven Tarot Spreads: Which One is Right for You?

So, the other day, I was feeling a bit… well, stuck. You know how it gets sometimes? Just couldn’t quite figure out which way to turn with a little project I was working on. Nothing major, just one of those things nagging at the back of my mind. I remembered I had this old tarot deck lying around, gathering dust on the shelf.

I thought, why not? Couldn’t hurt. So, I pulled out the deck. It’s been with me for ages, the cards are soft around the edges. I sat down, took a few deep breaths – trying to clear my head, you know? Then I just started shuffling. Didn’t do anything fancy, just shuffled them over and over, thinking about this little roadblock I’d hit.

I decided on a simple seven-card layout. Heard about it somewhere, seemed manageable. Not too complicated like some of those huge spreads. I cut the deck and started laying them out, one by one, in a sort of line. Seven cards staring back at me.

My Quick Look at the Cards

Okay, so here’s what I did. I turned them over, one at a time.

  • Card 1: Looked kinda… heavy. Not a great start, I thought.
  • Card 2: This one seemed to be about choices, which made sense.
  • Card 3: Felt like something from the past holding things back. Yeah, that tracks.
  • Card 4: This was supposed to be the core of it, I guess? Looked confusing. Lots going on.
  • Card 5: Showed something about needing help or collaboration. Okay, interesting.
  • Card 6: Pointed towards the near future. Seemed a bit more hopeful, actually.
  • Card 7: The final outcome card. It wasn’t super clear, honestly. More like, ‘the potential is there, but you gotta work for it’. Classic.

I stared at them for a while. Didn’t pull out any books or anything. I just tried to see if they told a story together. Card one showing the drag, card three the past stuff, card five saying maybe don’t go it alone… it sort of started to make a little bit of sense, in a fuzzy way. It wasn’t like a lightning bolt of insight, more like gentle nudges.

Did it solve my problem instantly? Nah, of course not. But it was… interesting. Spending that time, just focusing and looking at those images, kind of shifted my perspective a bit. It didn’t give me a concrete answer, like ‘do X then Y’. It was more like it highlighted a few things I already knew deep down but wasn’t paying attention to. Like maybe I was trying too hard to do everything myself (hello, card 5!).

So yeah, that was my little experiment with laying out seven cards. Just a simple process, really. Shuffle, lay ’em out, look at ’em. Gave me some food for thought, which is sometimes all you need. Better than just staring at the wall, anyway.
