Tarot Card Decan Meaning (Unlock Secrets of Each Card)

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with tarot cards lately, and I got really into this whole “decan” thing. It’s like, each zodiac sign is divided into three parts, and each part has its own vibe and meaning, you know?

First, I grabbed my trusty tarot deck and a notebook. I needed to figure out which decan each card belonged to. It’s not always super obvious, so I did some digging online. I found some charts that matched up the cards with the decans, mostly based on the Golden Dawn system – that seemed to be the most common way to do it.

Mapping It Out

So, I started by laying out the Minor Arcana, the numbered cards from Two to Ten. These are the ones that mostly connect to the decans. The Aces and the Court cards (Pages, Knights, Queens, Kings) are a different story, they’re more about elements and ranks, not so much the zodiac signs.

I carefully went through each suit – Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles – and matched each card to its corresponding decan. For example, the Two of Wands is linked to the first decan of Aries, which is ruled by Mars. It was like putting together a puzzle, seeing how the energy of the card, the zodiac sign, and the ruling planet all fit together.

  • Wands: Mostly fire signs – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius.
  • Cups: Water signs – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
  • Swords: Air signs – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius.
  • Pentacles: Earth signs – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.

Making Notes, Seeing Patterns

As I mapped everything out, I jotted down notes in my notebook. I wanted to see if I could spot any patterns or connections. And yeah, things started to click! Like, you could see how the cards in each decan of a sign shared a certain flavor, influenced by that part of the zodiac. It was like adding another layer of meaning to the cards.

For instance, the cards in the first decan of a sign often felt more raw and energetic, while the ones in the third decan felt more settled or even a bit stagnant. It made sense, considering how a zodiac sign’s energy supposedly shifts as it progresses.

It took a while to go through all the cards and make sure I had everything right. And I’m still no expert, that’s for sure. But it was a cool way to dive deeper into the tarot and see how all these different systems – astrology and the cards – can work together. I definitely feel like I understand the cards a little bit better now, even if it’s just a small piece of the puzzle.
