I wanted to share with everyone what I did today. It has to do with tarot cards. I just got into this stuff, so it’s all pretty new to me. I picked up a deck of those Tarot de Marseille cards. Heard they’re kinda old-school, but I liked the look of ’em, so I thought, why not?

So, the first thing I did was just spread the cards out on the table. I didn’t even know where to start, really. There were so many of them! I noticed the deck had 78 cards in total, split into Major and Minor Arcana. I didn’t know what that meant at first, but I figured it out later.

I started with the Major Arcana, the ones with the big names like “The Fool” and “The Magician.” They had these really detailed pictures on them, not like regular playing cards. They show some stories. The Fool, for example, he’s just strollin’ along like he hasn’t a care in the world, a little pack on his stick. But when I looked closer, I saw there was more to it. I mean, there are so many things hidden in those pictures. You can tell some stories there, I am sure.

Then I moved on to the Minor Arcana. These were more like the playing cards I was used to, with suits and numbers. But even these had little details on them if you looked close enough. Like, the 10 of Swords, for example, looks pretty serious. I read that it can mean a death, even. But I won’t worry about that for now.

  • I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just looking at each card, front and back.
  • I tried to guess what they might mean before looking it up online.
  • I even tried doing a simple reading for myself, just pulling three cards and seeing what they said.

Findings

It was actually pretty fun, getting lost in those images. Each card is a whole scene in itself. It was like reading a comic book where you make up the story. The cards, as I learned, date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. They were probably first made in Milan, Italy, and then spread around France, Switzerland, and other parts of Europe. Turns out, people used to use them for card games, not just fortune-telling. I found out that these cards have changed a bit over time as they moved around. Each place added their own little twist, I guess.

So, that was my afternoon with the Tarot de Marseille. It was a nice way to spend some time. If you’re ever bored and looking for something different to do, maybe give these cards a try. You might find yourself getting lost in them, too. Maybe you’ll see something in them cards that speaks to you.
