Tarot Reading Questions: Easy Examples & Best Starter Guide For Asking!

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with tarot cards for a while now, and let me tell you, figuring out what questions to ask is half the battle! I mean, you can’t just sit down and be like, “Cards, tell me… stuff.” It doesn’t really work that way. So, I wanted to share my little journey of figuring out this whole “tarot reading questions” thing.

At first, I was totally lost. I’d pull cards and get these beautiful images, but I had no clue how to connect them to my life. I started with super general questions like, “What’s going on in my life?” Big mistake. The answers were so vague, it was like reading a horoscope – could apply to anyone, anytime.

Then, I tried getting too specific. Like, “Will I get that specific promotion at work on the third Tuesday of next month?” Yeah, that didn’t work either. The cards were probably like, “Girl, chill.” It felt too much like trying to force a prediction, and tarot, at least for me, isn’t about fortune-telling.

My “Aha!” Moment

The real breakthrough came when I started focusing on the energy around a situation, rather than trying to nail down concrete outcomes. I realized I needed to ask questions that helped me understand myself and my situation better, not just try to predict the future.

So, here’s what I started doing. I grabbed my journal and started brainstorming. I divided my questions into a few categories:

  • Self-Reflection: These questions are all about me, my feelings, my motivations.
  • Situation Analysis: These help me understand the different aspects of a specific situation I’m facing.
  • Guidance & Advice: These focus on what actions I can take or what perspectives I should consider.

For example, instead of “Will I find love?”, I’d ask things like:

  • “What energy am I putting out into the world regarding relationships?”
  • “What can I learn from my past relationships?”
  • “What is blocking me from finding the relationship I desire?”
  • “What do I need to know to to be more success in relationships?”

See the difference? It’s more about understanding the why and how instead of just the what. And it’s much more empowering!

I also started paying attention to how the questions felt. If a question made me feel anxious or overly focused on a specific outcome, I’d rephrase it. The goal is to feel open and curious, not stressed and desperate.

Honestly, the most important thing I learned is that the cards are a tool for self-discovery. They’re like a mirror reflecting back my own inner wisdom. The questions are just the way I start that conversation with myself. It’s a work in progress, for sure, but it’s been a really rewarding journey so far!
