The Art of Drawing Tarot Cards: Inspiration Awaits

Okay, so yesterday I decided to try something totally new – drawing tarot cards. I’ve always been kinda curious about tarot, but never really dove in. So, I thought, why not give it a shot?

First thing I did was grab a deck. Went to a local bookstore and just picked one that looked cool, nothing fancy. It was a Rider-Waite-Smith deck, which I later learned is like, the standard beginner deck. Good choice, I guess!

Next, I watched a bunch of YouTube videos. Seriously, a bunch. I wanted to understand the basics – what the major arcana were, the minor arcana, the suits, all that jazz. Some videos were super intense and mystical, which was a little much for me. I was just trying to get the hang of it, not join a cult.

Then came the fun part – actually drawing some cards! I decided to start with a simple three-card spread: Past, Present, and Future. I shuffled the deck (which, btw, is harder than it looks!) and pulled three cards.

Okay, so the “Past” card was the Five of Cups. According to the internet, this means regret, disappointment, focusing on what’s lost. Hmm, pretty accurate for the past few months, to be honest. Lots of work drama.

The “Present” card was the Eight of Pentacles. This one’s about hard work, dedication, mastering your craft. Alright, feeling this! Been putting in a lot of hours on a new project at work, so yeah, checks out.

And finally, the “Future” card was the The Sun. Whoa! This is supposed to be a super positive card – joy, success, optimism. Fingers crossed this one comes true! I mean, after the Five of Cups and Eight of Pentacles, I deserve some sunshine, right?

After doing the three-card spread, I tried a one-card draw for a quick daily reading. Got the Queen of Wands, which is supposed to be about confidence, passion, and taking charge. Feeling pretty good about that one, too!

It’s still just the beginning, and I’m probably doing everything wrong, but it was surprisingly fun. I mean, I don’t know if I actually believe in all the mystical stuff, but it was a good way to reflect on what’s been going on in my life and think about the future. Plus, the cards are pretty! So, yeah, drawing tarot cards – a surprisingly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Definitely gonna keep practicing!

  • Watched tarot videos.
  • Bought tarot cards.
  • Drew three cards for the basic spread.
  • Drew one card for daily reading.
