Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea I’m calling “Tarot of Art,” and I wanted to share how it’s been going. It all started because I felt like my creative process needed a shake-up. I was stuck in a rut, you know?
The Idea
I thought, “What if I used Tarot cards, but instead of fortunes, they gave me art prompts?” I’m not a big Tarot reader or anything, but I love the imagery and the idea of drawing a random card for inspiration.
Gathering Supplies
First, I grabbed an old Tarot deck I had lying around. It’s some generic deck, nothing fancy. Then I dug out my art supplies – mostly sketchbooks, pencils, pens, and some watercolors. I like to keep things simple.
My First Try
I shuffled the deck, closed my eyes, and drew a card. It was The Star. Usually, that card is about hope and inspiration, which felt pretty fitting. I thought about what The Star meant to me visually, and I started sketching. The card in my deck has a woman pouring water from two jugs. I went with this pose of a person who water some flowers.
My Progress Steps
- First I drew a card named The Star.
- Second I sketched the basic outline with a pencil, just to get the pose and composition down.
- Third,I added some details, like the flow of the water and the folds in the clothing. I used a pen for this.
- Fourth, I wanted to try some color, so I grabbed my watercolors. I’m not great with watercolors, but I figured it’s all about experimenting.
- Finally,I ended up with a kind of dreamy, flowing image. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty happy with it. It definitely felt different from what I usually draw.
What I Learned
This whole “Tarot of Art” thing is turning out to be pretty cool. It’s pushing me to think outside the box and try new things. I’m already thinking about doing another one tomorrow. I even drew severl Tarot cards today.
It’s not about making masterpieces, it’s about the process of creating something unexpected. And honestly, it’s just plain fun. It’s like a little game I’m playing with myself, and my creativity is winning.
