Okay, so I’ve been getting really into tarot cards lately. It’s like, I wanted something a bit more… insightful than a Magic 8-Ball, you know? So I decided to dive in and figure out which deck was gonna be my deck. This is how it all went down.
Finding My Perfect Deck
First, I hit up a local bookstore – the kind with incense burning and crystals everywhere. Felt like the right vibe. I spent a good hour just browsing, totally overwhelmed. There were SO many options!
- Rider-Waite: This seemed like the “classic” one, the one everyone talks about. The imagery was cool, kinda medieval-looking.
- Thoth Tarot: Woah, this one was INTENSE. Super colorful, very symbolic… a little intimidating, honestly.
- Modern Witch Tarot: This one caught my eye – the art was modern and diverse, featuring people of different backgrounds and body types. It felt really inclusive.
- Some random decks with themes, very pretty artwork.
I picked up each deck, held it in my hands, and flipped through the cards. I was trying to see which one just felt right. It’s hard to explain, but it’s like you’re looking for a connection, a little spark.
The Rider-Waite felt familiar, which was comforting. But the Modern Witch Tarot…it just resonated with me. It felt current, relatable, and powerful. I also grabbed a little guidebook to help me interpret the meanings.
Getting to Know the Cards
Back home, I cleared off my desk, lit a candle (gotta set the mood, right?), and spread out the cards. I spent the next few days just looking at them, reading the guidebook, and doing some simple one-card draws for myself.
